Biography
Synopsis of "Sunset Tomorrow"
SUNSET TOMORROW is fiction but it poses difficult, real-life questions about how we measure a person's worth, both as an individual and as a member of society. Is the ragged young man sleeping on the beach, less important than the stock broker who runs past him wearing two-hundred dollar running shoes? Maybe. But to judge the homeless man by his poverty is an injustice, and to judge the stock broker by his wealth is a mistake.

SUNSET TOMORROW begins with an act of compassion. Jude and his friends are determined to buy a sick little boy his birthday present, but they are homeless, penniless and without support. Their quest quickly becomes a test of their determination and courage and eventually transforms a fellowship of misfits into heroes.

What if your child was dying and no one cared except a band of homeless beach bums?
What posseses a man to write a story about a beach, a sunset, and beach bums?
Sunset Tomorrow is a work of fiction set in Sunset Beach California, but the misfortunes, the grief, and the laughter, recounted in this narrative, were inspired by events in my own life. The character are also fictional, but if you look carefully, lounging in the shadows of a pier, sleeping on the sun soaked beaches, or drinking cheap wine in the back alleys of any west coast city, it is likely you will find an analog for each one of them.

This is a story of a small band of people, independent, insular, and frustratingly indolent who, when presented with an impossible task, rediscover their humanity. Driven by the power of their quest, they create a vortex of introspection that not only forces them to assess their own lives, but impels those around them to do the same.

There was a time when I too realized change had become inevitable, a time when I stood on the cold, wet sand while the incoming tide lapped at my feet, and watched in awe as the sun set over the ocean. And it was there that I wondered if my life would ever be the same again and knew it would not be.
